-2- JAD.MW Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/MH{M. Huckerby} Rolls Royce Limited. 16th November, 1938. Attention of Mr.Grylls. We have in hand three 1350 size shafts which will be despatched within a day or two and we would like your confirmation that we are to put in hand say 300 of similar shafts to commence delivery next week as arranged at the meeting. The cost has been got out for the actual operation of converting the old shafts into the new and this will be passed on to you immediately. The five experimental joints are in hand but we would also like you to test a sixth. We have gone carefully into any differences that may exist between the 1300 series and other series and find the major difference to be that there is less space for the needles to move up and down. This sixth experiment that we are suggesting is allowing the same space comparable to the other sizes of joints. As this last joint is easiest to get through, may we suggest that it is the first to be tested. In view of the urgency of the matter, the writer would be pleased to call again as soon as anything is moving in order that no time will be lost in clearing up the whole subject. Yours faithfully, p.p. HARDY, SPICER & CO. LIMITED. Director. | ||
