PHANTOM III CARBURETTER - SECTION 5080.
We are recommending for immediate use on production the following alterations.
These alterations apply to all cars fitted with the high pressure petrol pumps and carburetters marked R.S.
(1) Main metering jets to be .056 instead of .058 as at present.
(2) E.87987 choke torsion spring shortened .450" (see sketch attached).
Will you please make the necessary alterations to the drawing E.87987 so that we can issue the standardisation sheet.
The stronger torsion spring allows the car to be driven away with the engine cold, giving a better control of mixture.
The smaller main jets .056 give an increase of .5 to .75 M.P.G.
Tests have been carried out on 35-EX and 37-EX and also on production chassis in conjunction with Mr.Archer, Test Dept., with satisfactory results.
