We have today examined the Fabroil timing gears on the above chassis and have the following to report:- Road Test - Gears silent - no rattle. Shop Test - Both gears shew little or no sign of wear on the pitch line, backlash in gears standard, no abnormal marking on the pressure line of the teeth of the gears and from the appearance of the gears their condition did not warrant examination. The writer has had a good deal of experience with this type of gear on the older cars and from this, would estimate that providing nothing abnormal happens to them, they are likely to out-run the useful life of the car.
