DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}5/M23.2.31. X7520 [Handwritten] ORIGINAL [Stamped] Herewith is N. sch. 3229. scheme for the increased shaft and lever on the existing dampers. Two schemes are shewn - one using existing machined castings slightly re-machined, and giving 60% increase of shaft stiffness, and one calling for a slight modification to the pattern and new castings, but giving 100% increase of stiffness. In both cases the increase of lever stiffness is 100%. The second scheme also gives a more powerful square. A lubrication scheme will follow immediately. In the meanwhile we should like the Bijur scheme deleted altogether and the ball ends lubricated from the axle as indicated on N. sch. FOR DOUBLE PISTON DAMPER [Handwritten] As regards the two schemes shewn, though the 100% stiffer one is a fairly considerable alteration we know the changes will do no harm and can go straight into production. But we have not as yet attempted the other modifications which are contemplated because the above does not apply to them, and some time may be occupied in getting them through. Presumably which of the two schemes is adopted is a question of the convenience of the Works. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
