The majority of modern engines employ force feed oil circulation through crankshaft drillings to the main and big-end bearings, and splash or oil bleed from the bearings to lubricate the cylinder walls and pistons. Immediate oil circulation will, therefore, ensure adequate piston lubrication, improve piston ring seal, and reduce the tendency of cylinder bore wear.
