To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} 1153 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}2/AP.26.8.37 WRAITH UNIT NO.5. TIMING GEARS. Up to the time of dismantling the above gears for examination their total running time was 26 hours 10 mins. When first started up the gears had a bad uniform whine. No backlash could be felt on the dynamo drive. The whine was steadily decreased in intensity to a level about one third as bad as when new. They still would not pass production stand- ard. The gears are nt now tight but have no backlash. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} | ||
