The wear of the intermediate and end main bearings is also given. These bearings were used on tests Nos. 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 and show an average wear of 0.00047" on the five tests. The intermediate bearings are 70-30 bronze and the two end bearings are 80-40 bronze. The narrow lead streaks in the intermediate bearings all appeared after Test #7, the overspeed run. These bearings are being shipped to Rolls Royce in place in the engine.

The wear of the center main bearing as mentioned previously is somewhat indeterminate on account of the aluminum pick-up on the back of the shell. Two sets of readings were taken after setting the bearing and nuts at two separate times. One reading shows average wear of 0.0014" while the other shows 0.0024". In the case of the larger readings the bearing showed considerably more out of round and taper than in the former case, indicating improper seating.

Data on the dynamometer test rig is given after the test date. Photographs of the test rig are attached.
