To EFC. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CU. (crossed out) WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} (crossed out) HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} (crossed out) ORIGINAL (stamp) E6/G18/10/21. X 4414 RE BATTERIES FOR "GOSHAWK II" X.4283 (crossed out) X.3398 In reply to your queries concerning the above, please note I have taken this matter up with Mr. Royce, and he had decided as follows:- (1) He quite agrees that we should enquire of other firms respecting a battery for the "Goshawk II" chassis, in addition to the C.A.V.-Willard, but not to the same extent that we have done in connection with the dynamos and motors. Messrs. Peto & Radford should be asked to send a battery, but not Messrs. Lucas. (2) Mr. Royce does not wish to increase the size of the battery and thinks that we should ask Messrs. Peto & Radford to let us have a small model to test, telling them that their competitors are supplying batteries to the same dimensions, and that we should want reliability more than capacity. (3) We should adhere to our method of carrying the cells in a crate which can be lifted out of the battery box proper. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} (RECEIVED STAMP: OCT 19) | ||
