ACCESSORY APPARATUS TAKING OVER 15 AMPERES.

Reference your PN{Mr Northey}3/WT25.3.29. On the new S.S. chassis it is being arranged that the sequence starter relay current is taken from the battery positive between the main battery (emergency) fuse and the ammeter. This current therefore does not pass through the ammeter and is only subject to the main fuse. To avoid the ammeter on any Phantom chassis a connection would have to be made similarly at this point.

You may know that on the S.S. chassis we are providing an accessory distribution board with three fuses for accessories. At present it is arranged that this board be supplied through one of the distribution board fuses, viz. the one (No.6) which also supplies the thermometer and gauge illuminating lamp. If these fuses are of the same rating as the ordinary fuses in the distribution box, as is at present arranged, it would seem more logical to supply the accessories which are connected to this board independently of one of the fuses on the main distribution board, in which case it would be possible to take that supply to the other side of the ammeter, so that none of the additional accessories would be indicated on the ammeter.

In this connection I attach a copy of a note addressed to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} on this point.

At the same time the ammeter would not be damaged by an overload up to 90 amperes for a short period.
