X245 To Bentley Motors Ltd. Derby............. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Levallois Sr/VAI/ET.15.10.36 Re: CHASSIS B.34.BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - Dr. PLESCH ------------------------- (Total mileage 27.270 Kms.) Please find attached "Report upon condition of cylinders" (cylinder bore dimensions). At the special request of GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}, we are now measuring the cylinder bores in 5 places and the measurements are fully explained in the attached key sheet, reference Sr/VA2/ET.15.10.36. We propose in future to send you measurements of cylinder bore ovality and wear as per attached key sheet. For your information, we have fitted a set of drilled up type connecting rods with Hall's metal bearings and, as this car is not fitted with Aerolite pistons, we have plugged up the .031" hole in the side of the new rods. We have lightly honed the bores and fitted a set of new piston rings. The driver informed us that the oil consumption is heavy, viz. 2 litres per 300 Kms. When car is driven over 120 KMS per hour The car is still in our Shops and we will let you have the oil consumption figures at a later date. The owner is paying for an R.20 engine clean. Sr/VA.VA | ||
