Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KW.8.11.34. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Pistons. Some little time ago you asked us not to proceed with the semi-split pistons. We agree that for the 20/25 and Bentley we may be able to get away with a solid skirt piston but we are not very optimistic about the SpectreCodename for Phantom III because this is so much shorter than the other two. We have already heard signs of cold knocks on this unit with piston clearances that we think should be satisfactory with the Bentley design, and for this reason we are proposing to carry on with the semi-split piston for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III in parallel with the Aerolite type.
