charge is insufficient. In contradiction of this possibility, however, we have Mr. Minchin's observation during last winter that his own electrical system would keep up on Town service with a considerably reduced output of the dynamo. In view of this contradictory evidence it will be agreed that it is difficult to know what we ought to do with the amount of charging current on the system as at present. (It was our intention to try and prove that the present amount is more than sufficient, and possibly ultimately to reduce it accordingly). But there will be no need of this information if we adopt an auto switch control, as it may be said that the auto switch will know the state of affairs for us. (In this connection, referring particularly to the artificial load which we have put on one of the experimental chassis in order to find out something in this direction, see our EFC3/T12.10.27).

In regard to the suggestion of the separate rear lamp switch, we should be inclined to doubt the desirability of such a fitment, the amount of saving being comparatively small.

We are proceeding as time allows with auto-switch experiments with a greater reduction of charging current than 50%. To illustrate more clearly than can be done in words only the various points which we refer to below, attached will be found a copy of a diagram of the RR. Chassis Electrical System, incorporating alternatively :-
