"Goshawk 11" - Laminated Road Springs. X4429

I confirm mine Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 2/NJ2.1.22.

In response to a letter of enquiry which I addressed to Firths on the 6th inst., these people have written us (on the 9th inst.) as follows:-
"ORDER NO:P.8 FOR SIX SETS OF REAR SPRINGS.

"We now beg to give you a further report of "the position of the above order.

"The top leaves for this order have now all "been received, and we are going ahead with grinding "these as fast as we can. The material for the "remainder of the leaves is ground, and only requires "the taper grinding before it is ready for bending "to the correct camber.

"We still have to come in four of the cast "iron dies required for this order, and these may be "expected within a fortnight.

"We assure you we are doing all we can to "hasten the above order, but in this early stage of "manufacture, and with so many varying sample sets in "hand, it is extremely difficult to foresee some of "the minor difficulties which naturally crop up and "delay the completion of small orders.

"We sincerely hope that these sample sets will "be of a better finish than the six top leaves we have "already sent you, as we have had the stamping dies "at Messrs.Firth-Derihon Stampings Ltd. altered.

"We will notify you next week as to how this "order is going on, and in the meantime we assure you "we are doing all we possibly can to get this order "completed, as the testing of these springs is just as "important to us as it is to yourselves."

I am disappointed at the slow rate of progress which Firths are making in connection with this work and I propose to visit them early next week to see exactly how matters stand.

Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead}
