TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to --BG-- HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M2.10.26. X7370 EAC.7. SERVO LINKAGE. Replying to BY/CGH{W Clough}6/H27926., we regret that the omission to shew the hand brake lever has caused us to take up too much room sideways. We send herewith N. scheme 2274. shewing how we suggest the spring should be modified to come inside the hand brake lever. Should it be necessary to change the spring in service the standard box spanner is too long we think to be used, and unless a short one is available it will be necessary to use a jaw spanner, so that we have left the hexagon as far outside the washer as possible. The difficulty with the lubricator we suggest should be dealt with by putting a boss on the boss of the hand brake lever. With reference to EAC. 8. and present production we see that by using the shorter spring of N. scheme 2249., you can get it in, and we therefore agree to this proposal.
