X.3421 RE BONNET LOCKS.

Referring to your memo. OY2/G14.6.20, the position in regard to bonnet locks was that I had definitely instructed bonnet locks as a standard fitting, but Mr. Royce decided against this proposition, and with CJ's agreement the bonnet lock was cancelled as a standard fitting and only added when the customer actually called for same.

In view of the fact that there will of course be an increased expense in fitting bonnet locks, we can only fit them when the customer orders same and in any case an extra charge will have to be made with each chassis so fitted.

With reference to the type of lock, we were not able to obtain Yale locks at that time to meet our requirements and after going into the question very carefully as to what type of lock was available, we decided upon the Gibbon, as it was of robust construction and fulfilled all the requirements expected of it at that time.

We have a number of these locks in stock and therefore could fit same if instructed, but if a Yale lock was called for then we should have to obtain supplies of same, as more are available at our Works.
