To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH. c. to CJ. c. to C X4554 EH1/LG16.5.18. X.2565 - RE - AFTER THE WAR CHASSIS. Attached herewith are copies of letters sent to the works by CJ with a request that we should send our recommendations on to you. We certainly ought to make an application for material and labour for Car work although there may appear very little prospect at present of us being able to make use of it. If we take up chassis work, it seems that the first thing we should do, would be to put together the "Northcliffe" chassis because most of the designing and most of the material, we have at the works. We do not think it will be much use starting on the "Northcliffe" chassis unless we can allot a certain number of machines and a number of men to carry it through. There would still be a lot of designing to do as regards the engine even if we decided to fit the present car engine to that chassis. From what we hear - most of the Motor Car firms are working on "After-the-War" Chassis? If Mr. Royce will kindly let us know his wishes, we can make arrangements for estimates to be got for material and labour. EH. | ||
