Dr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} C. Watts,
Messrs. Ogilvie & Partners, Ltd.,
104, High Holborn, W.C.1.

Dear Sir,

We are looking into the question of the efficiency of the fan on our 40/50 H.P. Chassis, with a view to effecting some improvement.

We enclose herewith a print of Drg. No. E.17154, showing our present fan, which runs at 1.3 engine speed when the car is doing 20 miles per hour, the engine speed being between 700 and 750 r.p.m. We want the most efficient possible fan when the car is travelling slowly. We also want the fan to require as little power to drive as possible at high speeds, so that its efficiency shall not fall off more than we can help by belt slip. When the car is travelling at high speeds there is considerable back pressure in the bonnet, owing to the difficulty of getting the volume of air passing through the radiator away.

We should be glad if you would kindly look into this matter for us, and let us have your recommendations for the most efficient type of fan for us to test.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
