X1015 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}5/KW. 1st October, 1936. Messrs. British Insulated Cables Ltd., Prescot, Lancs. Dear Sirs, In connection with the manufacture of rear axle tubes, we should like to be able to butt weld electrically a flange on to a tube 5" dia. x 5/16" thick. The material of this tube is approximately .4% carbon, and the flange will be similar. Will you let us know whether you could do this welding for us on a few experimental sets or in production quantities, or whether you are only in a position to be able to supply apparatus for doing this type of welding. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
