| COPY OF LETTER FROM E.S.C. 26.7.40. Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, 40 mm. Barrel Forgings. We are in receipt of your letter of the 25th. inst. regarding the discussion held at these works on 25th. July concerning delivery of the above mentioned Barrels. We confirm that every effort will be made to deliver the first 6 barrels by road to the Royal Ordnance Factory, Nottingham, on the 12th. August. We hope to despatch within one week from that date a further 24 barrels, making 30 in all, as we did not undertake to deliver the whole 60 within that period. The remaining 30 barrels will be delivered in approximately 10 days after the delivery of the first 30. As requested in the last paragraph of your letter, we enclose herewith our Forging and Machining Sketches which we trust will supply the information required.
