We attach to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH's copy, the originals of :- PL.658 Morris Gearbox in Myth Chassis (2 sheets) PL.659 Clutch Casing and Diaphragm to suit Morris Eight Gearbox. It was decided at a conference that the Morris Eight Gearbox should be fitted to the first Myth Chassis, as we could not produce our Junior Rationalised Range Gearbox in time, and in any case, we wish to redesign it to incorporate some of the Morris Gearbox features. On PL.658, we show a general arrangement of the gearbox in the Myth Chassis. The position of the gearbox has been chosen with a view to getting the best place for the change gear lever and also the minimum modifications to the intended Myth Chassis. It will be necessary to produce an extension piece on the end of the first motion shaft of the Morris Gearbox to match up with the Myth flywheel and clutch. As the rear end of the Morris gearbox has no provision for a propellor shaft sliding joint, we shall have to design a propellor shaft with the sliding piece as a part of the prop: shaft which we propose to have at the gearbox end. The rear engine mounting is to be the same as the Morris car, for this job we have produced a rear engine mounting cross member to accept the existing Morris rubbers. On PL.659, we show the clutch casing and diaphragm to suit the M.40 engine and the Morris Gearbox. We propose to produce these pieces in alum. (continued) | ||
