-3- Contd. and terminal F.B., which output should lie between 9.5 and 10.5 amperes. (6) With the dynamo still in the same hot condition, it should be verified that running on open circuit shews a voltage of at least 13.6 at 720 r.p.m. (7) The dynamo shall again be run on load and its speed varied up and down with a view to testing for mechanical and electrical noise. (8) The dynamo shall now be run up to 3500 r.p.m. still on load, and shall shew no abnormal brush sparking. Further, the mechanical vibration due to any want of balance shall not be excessive. (9) Examine also for rubbing armature, slack bearings, cracked insulation, etc. (10) The insulation of the machine should be tested while still hot by applying through a low c.p. 200 volt lamp an alternating voltage of 200 between the windings and the frame, when the lamp should shew no sign of being lighted.
