New Type Lucas Headlamps.

You are of course familiar with the development of these for R-R and Bentley cars, and as so much time has elapsed since we started to consider an improved type Lucas headlamp we feel we should now be approaching the stage when we are able to introduce these lamps in place of the existing P.100 type.

Records show that these lamps were sent to you by Lucas in January last to enable you to thoroughly test and approve them before being standardised, also that it will take 4-5 months to get them into production from the time we approve the design and general arrangement.

It is important that we should be able to get these lamps for our cars for the next Motor Exhibition which is due to be held in October next, so that if the above period for production is correct we shall only just scrape through in time.

At the last Chassis Conference at W. on 6th April these lamps were discussed, and the Minute reads -

" Development of these is being continued on the lines of
" making the lamps (a) suitable for this Country, and (b)
" easily modified for cars taken abroad on triptyque.

We think it important that they should be passed under the heading (a) as quickly as possible now.

Will you please let me have a full report on the present position, on which subject I have to report to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} forthwith.
