"W" SERIES MATERIAL.

In ordering up material for "W" Series, I do not propose to introduce doubtful new features in this proposal; although on "V" Series we admittedly have a large number of parts which are not yet standardized, but which you have agreed should be put into manufacture. I do not think we should commit ourselves on "W" Series in this direction more than we have done on "V".

The reason for the foregoing is that the chassis we should be running in France should be "V" Series chassis, and therefore the following features will not be incorporated in same, whilst the features themselves will require considerable experimental work.

1. Subframe.

2. New side lever and change gear mechanism to suit subframe.

3. New locking scheme and modified First and Second Speed Gears to suit new proposal.

We could, however, in my opinion, without any risk, safely consider the higher radiator bonnet and dash with the one or two consequent modifications resulting from same.

I would like to know whether you would empower me to incorporate these three features in "W" Series, or so far as ordering the material is concerned.

I wish to make it clear that none of these features will be on the 10,000 miles trials car which will be running in France shortly, but no one of them would represent a weakness. It is merely a question of modified dimensions in the bonnet, dash and radiator, and in the case of the radiator, in addition to the modified dimensions with increased height, the shutters would be incorporated in the radiator side plates, and will therefore be a unit integral with the radiator, a
