Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.

11th January, 1935

Handwritten in left margin: We should get one hub and try out - also one cap. [Note: Part of the original sentence, possibly 'R.H. to machine', has been struck through and replaced with 'and try out'.]

interest for the particular purpose you have in mind.

As regards your prints, the alterations shown on the hub whilst still not appearing necessary could certainly do no harm, and we could machine a set for you as you wish. The alterations to the locknut appear to us to leave rather a poor sort of shaped ear to hit at, and we should think that if you are extremely anxious to lighten the nut you should leave a bolder shape and then drill or end mill lightening holes or recesses in the back of the ears. Offsetting of the ears as you have shown is easier for hammering of course and is general racing practice. [Note: A vertical line is handwritten in the right margin alongside this paragraph.]

Yours faithfully,
For RUDGE WHITWORTH LTD.
