X 4094 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KT. July 6th 1933. The Adamant Engineering Co. Ltd., Dallow Road, Luton. For the attention of Commdr. Matravers. Dear Sirs, We are sending you under separate cover the steering, which we wish to be converted to a lower gear ratio, for the Phantom, as per our letter, ref. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KT. of the 23rd June. We attach inspector's report on this steering when stripped. We are concerned to note that the hemispheres are cracked, in fact they appear to be worse than those which were not tempered. Furthermore, these particular hemispheres have been subjected to road running only. At the moment we regard this to be the worse fault of the Marles steering, and we should be glad to hear what further steps you will take to overcome this trouble. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
