R108.D (15-8-21) 200 H.2.(T 08) 28S 15H 26th August, 1921. COMPLAINT. W.W. REMARKS. Spring Drive can easily be assembled with the friction plates in the wrong position. We are proposing eight outer perforations and eight spring of the damper plates to overcome this trouble. Retaining bolt for spring drives turns round in crankshaft. We are proposing spot brazing or pinning the coned piece to the stud. Deeper bosses in inlet and exhaust pipes so as to enable a spanner to be got on. Cast or malleable pipes do not come out accurate. We are making deeper bosses. Carburettor. Adjusting screw for low speed jet awkward to operate because of screw heads. Cheese head screws for grip-pin levers on jet. Throats to be made of bronze. Drain hole to allow petrol which may collect in air-inlet to drain away. Mr Royce has instructed us to alter the design for these points. Drain plug for oil in crank-case to be more accessible. Mr Royce proposes to use an accessible drain cock. Design will be put in hand. Core plugs and machine plugs should be standardised. We recommend to cast iron ones. We are going over these with a view to reducing the varieties. Studs holding cylinder and head are too weak. We are not likely to alter the size of these studs. The metal seems stiff enough. We are about to try a breaking test. Oil pump casing should be gun metal casting - we have trouble with the steel connections screwing out. Mr Royce approves GM casing. The unions can then be sweated in. | ||
