x223 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}10/KW. 4th February, 1936. Mr. Baker, Durion Ltd., Electro-Chemical Engineers, 10, Parsons Green, Fulham, LONDON, S.W.6. Dear Sir, I have had a conversation with Mr. Robotham regarding your method of chromium plating mild steel, and I am enclosing a drawing of our exhaust downtake pipe, front expansion box and intermediate pipe, which we could make in M.S., for your perusal and suggestions as to how we can get the insides plated. If you plate inside the expansion box C and downtake pipe D, would you require the baffle E removing, or the ends leaving off, or can you plate inside when the whole job is assembled. If you will send me your recommendations I will forward the material in any form you desire, but we must keep in mind the fact that the 2 ends of the expansion box C are welded on. The intermediate pipe of course could be broken off and flanged at the front end A and where it enters the second expansion box B: it looks as if we should have to risk destroying the plating locally. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
