KLG. 18 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 3 point.R4 type sparking plugs.

I am in correspondence with the Robinhood Engineering Works Ltd. with a view to arrange for the return to them of the whole of the sparking plugs, used or unused, which they have delivered to us, also the 500 plug cleaners which they have supplied. A considerable number of the plugs were supplied to us through Messrs.S.Smith & Sons Ltd. who have the sole selling rights of the R4 type plug, but we have suggested that the Robinhood Engineering Works Ltd. should deal with the whole matter.

In a letter from the Robinhood Co. dated 6th inst. to hand this morning, said firm state their willingness to take back and credit us in full for all unused plugs which we have, but, to my mind, this does not go far enough.

The Robinhood Co. state that this particular type of plug was supplied at our direct request after, they understood, prolonged tests and they state that after receipt of the telegram which we addressed to Mr.K.Lee Guinness on the 3rd ult. they sent us modified plugs for our tests and wrote us on the 5th ult. with regard thereto. They also state they wrote us on the subject on 17th Oct.

They further state that the last communication they received from us on the subject of plugs was our letter EH9/LG 131119, which stated that the modified plugs sent to us were an improvement on the R4 type and that we were continuing our tests and would let them know more as soon as possible.

They go on to state that Mr.Guinness has been carrying out special experiments, with the object in view to produce a plug specially suited to our particular requirements and has gone so far as to purchase one of our late 1914 cars to enable him to test the plugs personally.

To enable me to decide what attitude we must take up with regard to our claim for repayment for the plugs which have been in use, I shall be much obliged if the official who received the Robinhood Co's letters of 17th Oct, and 5th Nov. will kindly forward same to me (or copies of same) and I shall also be much obliged if EH. will send me copy of his letter to the Robinhood Engineering Works Ltd. of 13th ult.

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}
