81487 Expl. Dept. He/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MJ. October 29th.1931. The S.U.Carburetter Co., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderely Park, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr. Skinner. Dear Mr. Skinner, Thank you for your letter of the 26th. inst.. We have now had the big S.U. running, and the main problem is to get reasonable distribution and at the same time get the carburetter under the bonnet as there are not many places where it will go without running into something. I do not know whether it will interest you to try two of our cars with your carburetter fitted, but if so, they will probably be available at the end of next week. We should value your opinion as to whether we are making the best use of them. On the whole our greatest difficulty has been to get good distribution when the carburetter is put close to the induction pipe. As you are probably aware, the diffuser type carburetter is much less susceptible to distribution than the single jet type, but you can probably tell us whether the Morris and the new Lanchester induction pipes are really satisfactory. You will appreciate that we do not want to worry you too much on this job because, as you are aware, the prospect of you doing any business with us is somewhat remote. We should, however, like to thank you for the various carburetters you have kindly lent to us. Cont'd........ | ||
