re Cornercroft Wing Lamps.

In connection with the standardisation sheets circulated for the above, to use these lamps on all three models, namely Phantom, 20/25 and Bentley, it is noted there is a nett increase of 12/6d per car.

It has to be realised that in the new lamp there are several distinct advantages to offset against this increased cost..

(1) The new design is better electrically, insofar that the possibility of shorting the cable terminal against the lamp body when inserting a new bulb is washed out.

(2) It is more easy to change the bulb since the bulb holder is now withdrawn from the lamp for carrying out this purpose.

(3) The old lamp was inadequate in our view as regards the amount of light it gave, not for seeing anything, but for being seen. The new lamp is fitted with a reflector behind the bulb.

(4) The old lamp is a small insignificant article of poor shape, and undignified appearance, not sufficiently good for our class of vehicle, whereas the new lamp is larger and has better lines.

(5) The new lamp is a special design exclusive to Rolls-Royce.

(6) The new lamp is fitted with a red signal window in the tail to warn the driver of any failure in the lighting.

Personally I am hoping that there will be some reduction in the price when the next order for a quantity goes through.
