Accumulator suspension.

We fitted the new bracket E.52880 sent out. This has run 1500 miles and is still O.K. The STAY on frame had again worn and allowed battery to swing again. We have made a much stronger stay and brackets which has remained so far O.K.

Exhaust silencer & brackets.

New rear silencer to E.S.2030 and L.O.P. E.53738 with additional strap at rear end. The lagging of the rear silencer is now in a deplorable condition. The brackets have remained tight.

Exhaust swan neck & snout.

These are still in good condition. There is an exhaust boom on retard.

Exhaust cut out.

This stuck in a closed position on one occasion due to the distortion of the valve spindle. The controls are not satisfactory. Considerable wear has taken place in the jaws which causes the controls to rattle.

Petrol tank & fittings.

These have given no trouble and are still in good condition.

Rear spare wheel carrier.

This is still in good condition. We have had no trouble with the wheel working loose.

General examination underneath the car.

From examination the chassis frame is still O.K. Cross members and frame ties are still in good condition. Sub frame brackets are O.K. There is now slight wear in the equalising shaft bearings for rear brakes. The front equalising shaft is O.K. All step irons are O.K. The wire from accumulator to frame has been partly cut through by continually rubbing on the brake ropes.

Front wings.

Stiffened wings supports.
It has been necessary to patch the front wings where they had started to crack at front edge. The front cross member where front wing supports are bolted on to, has become loose owing to the bolts having broken. We are of the opinion that these should be of a larger diameter. We believe that the cause is due to the bolts stretching as the nuts have been continually working loose.

Sub frame.

We have had no further fractures of sub frame bolts. We have nothing further to add to our previous report on. Sub Frame.
