Re Rolls-Royce car belonging to Mr. Sidgreave; the first time it came in to us for repair we found the whole trouble with the job was a fault in the aerial, causing a crackle. The new installation, in my opinion, is not as good as ours was previously. A Philips under-chassis aerial was used on nearside only. The set was connected by screened cable through a screened battery choke (Philips) direct to the battery. This is definitely against the Rolls-Royce practice. They informed us we must use auxilliary terminal on the fuse box. Condenser on petrol pump, coil and dynamo as usual, with the addition of a screened H.T. cable. This is definitely dead against R.R. instructions. Incidentally, not doing any material good. In conclusion, I would like to say that engine noise was still bad on this job, even though for some unknown reason Mr. Sidgreave appears to be content. Of course, no plug suppressors have been fitted. As the chauffeur was pleased about the job I did not pass any remarks re my opinion. | ||
