GEAR LEVER ON COLUMN IN LEFT HAND PHANTOM.

We have abandoned the above scheme in favour of the side levers, but wish to put on record the state of the design work.

The controls between the bottom of the column and the box are shown on P.L.31 (2 sheets) and are complete except for brackets on the column, and a bell-crank lever bracket on the box.

The selector mech. PD.506 is correct except for an error at the outer end of the cross-the-gate linkage.

The vacuum servo and complete gearbox balance linkage needs designing although completely projected on PL.31 and PD.505.

The control head on the column needs to be completely re-designed using a different order of levers from that shown on PD.507 and PD.508, to reverse the motion across the gate, so keeping the pull-rods always in tension.
