LAGONDA. not to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/E.4.1.39., we were very interested in reading Professor Dodds' account of the comparison between his Bentley and the Lagonda. One point is not quite clear from his report, and that is his remark regarding the low speed acceleration of the Lagonda. The cars we have tried have had a very poor acceleration at low engine speeds, i.e., on top gear below 50 m.p.h. the pick-up has been very disappointing. Above 50 m.p.h. it is very good. Obviously if second gear is used acceleration would start up good about 20 m.p.h., which, apparently is the test which Dodds carried out. Briefly, we still believe that it is necessary to change below 50 m.p.h. to get the best results out of a Lagonda. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
