X231 To EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Wov. Ms. SP.{Mr Spinney} JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} By/HD.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} E.10/HP.8.9.33. re Bentley Instrument Boards. Referring to the above, By/HD{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} has pointed out that there is a tendency for the upper part of the speedometer to be obscured by the scuttle rail as exemplified on the first Bentley we have received from the coachbuilders so that the scale between 40 and 70 miles per hour cannot be seen. As this is a very useful range of speed there may be some complaint about this and we think it is a point that should be taken up with coachbuilders so that the scuttle rail is not unduly large where it surrounds the gearbox driving the right hand screen wiper. Also the lower edge of the scuttle rail should be kept above the line of vision to the speedometer if possible. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
