23rd September, 1936.

Messrs. AC-Sphinx Sparking Plug Co.,
Dunstable,
BEDFORDSHIRE.

For the attention of Mr. N.F. Stockbridge.

Dear Sirs,

We should be very interested to know the position of the special aero plugs, which were returned to you for modification.

Have you been able to effect the satisfactory method of securing the screened extensions.?

With regard to the X.399 Bentley sparking plugs, we have just had a case of pre-ignition on an engine which had 2 of these plugs fitted along with plugs of other types.

The plug electrodes show signs of overheating and we are continuing the test with the 2 AC plugs removed, to see if pre-ignition still occurs.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
