X.3545 Arising out of the proposition to fit Lord Rocksavages' chassis with a 15-tooth axle, CJ. asks whether the tests which were made at Brooklands between the two ratios of axle, did not give the indication required as to the extent which high road speed might be affected.

In any case, it is most important for us to know as soon as possible what is the definite view taken by yourself or Test Dept. as to the effect of high road speed on the lower geared axle.

It would appear that if you have not sufficient data already to come to a decision on this point, we should be wise in carrying out further tests at Brooklands as soon as possible, in order to establish the position.
