MARSTON MARK III RADIATORS. 40/50.

As the result of complaints from the radiator shop that the 40/50 car radiator matrices were not coming in from Marstons dimensionally correct, we arranged for Mr. Southall, works engineer of Marstons, to visit us and discuss the difficulties to be overcome.

The following points were agreed upon :-

(1) The brass strip matrix side plates should be fixed in position by Marstons during the matrix dipping operation.

(2) The recent modification to the top corners of the matrix, to facilitate soldering up the outer side plate to the top tank should be incorporated in future deliveries.

(3) Marstons will improve their jigs etc. and make special gauges to ensure that the previous errors in dimensions cannot recur.

In order to help Marstons we have promised to send them a fully dimensioned drawing incorporating the modification to the top corners; in addition we have agreed to send them a sample 40/50 bottom tank in order for them to make up a good rig.

With regard to the agreement that it is better for all concerned for Marstons to fit the brass side strips, there is the point to be settled as to whether we shall supply the side strips or whether they shall do it. In the latter case Marstons have asked us to give them a specification of the material we use at present, in order that they can used exactly similar quality brass. We suggest that we let them provide the side strips.

Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please arrange to have the necessary drawings, 40/50 bottom tank etc. sent to Marstons (for the attention of Mr. Southall) and also have the necessary instructions issued, in order that the above improvements may be put through quickly.
