CAXTON HOUSE, WESTMINSTER, LONDON, S.W.1. IN REPLY PLEASE REFER TO Auto Dept. M.S.D. 29th April, 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. For the attention of Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives. Dear Sirs, We should like to thank you for the very courteous interview granted on the 26th instant to our technical representative, Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Russell Sharp, from whom we have much pleasure in learning of the satisfactory results obtained by you from Mobiloil "D" (engine oil) and Mobiloil "C" (gear oil) under test in the new Rolls-Bentley Car. As mentioned by Mr. Sharp, we are firmly of the opinion that you would secure equally good results from Mobiloil "EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}" for rear axle lubrication. This grade has been specially prepared to withstand extreme pressures particularly with the requirements of the hypoid gear in mind, and we have pleasure in informing you that it was subjected to the standard running test at the Gleason Works, Rochester, N.Y., consisting of 12 hrs in reverse with the pressure on the coast side of the teeth, and a further 12 hrs check run, and as a result of this test, Mobiloil "EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}" now appears in the Gleason Co's approved list of lubricants for hypoid gears, dated 9th September, 1932. You may remember that we forwarded to you a supply of Mobiloil "EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}" for trial in January last, but the oil was returned. If it will now suit your convenience to carry out a test, we should be only too pleased to let you have a supply upon hearing from you the quantity required, and the size of package that would best suit your convenience. Yours faithfully, VACUUM OIL COMPANY, LIMITED. LID{A. J. Lidsey} See me W. Stafford May Manager. SNGR/MD. Manufacturers' Service Division. | ||
