X.3035 To Sn.{Mr Sanderson} from EFC. EFC1/AT6.8.19. RE TYPEWRITER & TELEPHONE. The desirability of a telephone and of a second typewriter for this office is more urgent than ever. We have a large amount of work to do and we find ourselves hindered at every point through the want of these. Valuable time, which would otherwise be used in the completion of tests which are urgently required in connection with the equipment of the car, is being absorbed in frequent delays due to this want. Regarding the matter of the typewriter and your note Sn{Mr Sanderson}13/Q22519, it was quite reasonable at the time to allow Mr. Hives the second typewriter which we had in this department and we cannot reasonably expect this to be returned; if he did return it there would be just the same urgency about getting another one as he could not possibly do without. We should say that, under the circumstances, the price of the typewriter ought to be a secondary consideration as this matter is a serious hindrance to the efficient completion of the electrical equipment of the chassis.
