INDEPENDENT FRONT WHEEL SUSPENSION.

We send herewith further layouts in connection, namely,

(1) N. sch. 3681. - Steering & brake operating linkage.
(2) " 3711. - Engine front suspension & crossmember.
(3) " 3713. - Radiator mounting & bottom tank.
(4) " 3715. - Modified piston.
(5) " 3716. - Front crossmember, starting handle, etc.
(6) " 3718. - Alternative sch. for front horn brackets.

The idea is to take an existing Phantom chassis and cut off the end of the frame side members, substituting a temporary construction of plates for the existing front horns. A permanent sch. will be done in connection with 'SpectreCodename for Phantom III'.

N. sch. 3718. is an alternative sch. for the front horns which might be neater in appearance, but probably is more difficult to make.

It is intended that the front suspension shall be detached from the chassis as a unit.

The radiator mounting on N. sch. 3713. involves a new bottom tank. The triangle and bearings present a difficulty as they invade the space occupied by the radiator.

N. sch. 3715. has already been sent you for printing.

Would BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please take off prints for himself, and others in Derby, and return the originals to us as quickly as possible. We should like them by the first post on Monday morning next.
