To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from EFC. EFC2/AT23.1.19. X.3362.-LIGHTING INSTALLATION AT W.W. We have some ideas for the switchboard and we will, when time permits, get these set out as rough drawings, but at the moment it is next to impossible to do this as our own time, and that of the draughtsmen in the various design offices, is so filled up with chassis work. Regarding the matter of stationary type accumulator cells for this installation, I have had no word from you in answer to the quotations submitted. Regarding 12-0-12 moving coil ammeter for the installation, it seems rather difficult to get hold of one of these of reasonable dimensions unless it is a Weston instrument. We have a quotation for one with a 6" dial, but we take it that this would be much larger than Mr. Royce would like to have on his engine room switchboard, on the other hand the Weston instrument may be too expensive. In this connection I may remark that there is a very neat little Weston moving coil instrument, reading 20-0-20, on the Liberty ignition set, the dimension of the dial being 2" diameter. (This is very similar to the instrument on 49GB which is also a Weston.) It, we think, may be too small, but we thought we might suggest it, as we have three of these Liberty sets which are the property of the Firm, and it does not now seem likely that the generator equipment of all three sets will be used. I shall be glad to have your answer to these points. | ||
