Dear Mr. Ward,

We are sending you copies of our weight analysis of 12.B.V., 1.R.1, and 4.B.50 bodies and chassis.

As you will see from our figures the chassis of 1.R.1 is 41 lbs lighter than 12.B.V.chassis, yet the body weight in Wood and Alum comes out 92 lbs. heavier than the all-steel construction.

We have made a check of the doors, seats, etc., of the 2 cars and account for 23 lbs extra weight in 1.R.1. the other 71 lbs. is obviously in the body shell, wings, and small running boards.

We also enclose a complete weight analysis of 4.B.50 body and chassis, the coachwork on this car comes out at 12cwts. 2 qrs. 5 lbs. when the specification asked for 10 1/2 cwts.

In view of the great effort which is required to lighten this chassis a few pounds, this increased coachwork weight is staggering.

We should like to have your comments on these weight figures.

Yours faithfully,
for ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
