Dear Sidgreaves,

Last Autumn you were good enough to put in a word for our oils with your people at Derby and the outcome of this has been satisfactory insomuch as your people up there have shown a gratifying willingness to co-operate with us in connection with their researches about the advisability of using oils far more fluid than anything which they have recommended in the past, but as these researches must necessarily take a considerable time, especially with your own people who are always commendably cautious in the testing out of new ideas, you will see that with regard to the commercial side, no grist has as yet come to the Duckham mill because we are still off your list of recommendees.

In view of the time which will probably elapse am I expecting too much when I ask you to consider whether our standard grades might not in the meantime have the honour of appearing in your list?

I might mention that the more fluid oils which your people may possibly adopt are already standards with us.

I am getting older every year and I would like to see Duckhams included among your recommendees before I pass out!

Hoping that all goes well with you and with kind regards,

Yours sincerely,

(Sgd) A.Duckham.
