WYMAN - EME/MS c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} File DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/2/G.29.8.38. 1044. BENTLEY 60. FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING FOR THE 1ST. B.60 ENGINE. Please receive herewith :- E.CD.850 High Front Engine Mounting - Bentley 60. (1st Engine only). This drawing shows the engine nose bearing to PD.88 coupled up with the engine support members to E.CD.785, and is for use on the first of the B.60 engines which has the facing for the nose bearing on the crankcase and wheelcase to agree with the design of PD.88. Any further engines to be made will have the modified facings for engine nose bearing as per E.CD.785, as the front support rubber to PD.88 is considered to be too small in view of our experience on the Wraith lll car. Will you please detail and instruct for the experiment, as it is intended now to fit the first B.60 engine in a car as soon as available. The urgency is determined by the state of the B.60 engine. Although the design shows the bridge piece as a forging, it is assumed that this will be made either from a hand forging or as a welded built up piece owing to there only being one set required, the nose bearing could be machined from a solid piece of steel. The pressed steel lower members of the brackets attached to the chassis frame are same as designed for the later B.60 engines to E.CD.785. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
