SPECIFICATION. D.C.C/12. E.S.D/828. 26.9.28. IMPROVED FORM OF BREATHER. Tests have shewn that the present breather is liable to stick open after a period of running, thus allowing an excessive escape of oil, a condition which is very undesirable in view of the large quantity of oil now required for the lubrication of the valve rocker gear etc. An improved form of breather is therefore required to be introduced with a view to preventing this trouble in the future. IT IS PROPOSED TO ADOPT:- On all new engines for Phantom II Chassis. The improved breather as shown on Drawing E.63909. This breather has a loose disc instead of the mushroom type valve, the disc being controlled by a light spring. STORES TO BE ADVISED:- Existing stock of Part No. E.54477 (breather) to be scrapped and Drawing cancelled. The new breather E.63909 will be available from Stores as a complete assembly. Cost. Present. s. d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Proposed. s. d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Each - 11 1/2 Each - 7 1/2 Saving. 4d each EFFECT ON OTHER PARTS:- Crankcase Top Half, E.63850. The hole for the breather to be machined to the new dimensions on all new castings. This alteration will be put in hand as quickly as possible from Engine No. U.J. 1. | ||
