u. Crab (new Standard)
I believe the few suggestions I made are valuable
(1) To cantilever the lifting motor end of the crab, it equalises somewhat the load on the axles. good for bearings & deflections, & it leaves room for simple treatment of the brake mechanism.
(2) To use a single plate to carry pulleys in 8 fall cranes & so save about several inches in all the crab width.
(3) The centrally design rings so that they can be reversed when worn & also to take advantage of the side step, so as to get the bearings nearer to the centre of the whole, same as crab width and deflection. [also rather long shafts if bearing pressure too high]
(4) I do not think it is worth going to any trouble to enclose the cross travel wheel only. it would be different if we could enclose all but just these two gears. would not suggest we ought to do all the others.
I am particularly anxious that in all your new designs you should not go into production

[Text on left margin:]
Additions to the new cross travel frame has on tape with several designs. Crab pulleys require centre & shafts altogether, another or we must increase the dia. (ported in any case).
