X.3585 - MODIFIED R.R. DISTRIBUTION BOX. X.3770

(1) There is the possibility of reversing the connections to the fixed and movable contact of the cut-out in such a manner that when the dynamo is not charging, the live metal is confined to the insulated plate constituting the fixed contact. This would be brought about by connecting this plate to the connection from the battery, via the ammeter, in which case the R.R. metal plate underneath the cut-out would have to be separate from the strip containing one terminal for the distributing fuse. Further, the connection from the series coil would have to be taken off this fixed contact and attached to the base plate. This modification is merely suggested as a possibility which it would be advisable to carry out only if it can be arranged without much difficulty.

(2) We suggest that we ask Messrs. Lucas to send us one or two cut-outs for this purpose in which both the shunt and series connections are taken out on the lower side instead of the upper, referring to the cut-out as in position on the board on the chassis, and at the same time to provide longer connections so that these can be arranged in any way which we desire. In this case, unless modification (1) were carried out at the same time, it would be necessary to reverse the fixed contact plate so that the terminal to which the wire is soldered comes at the bottom instead of at the top.
