BENTLEY.

(1) Dodd will obtain an ignition governor which gives the final ignition advance required to maintain the performance on B-23-AH, and test it out.

(2) Dodd will check the effect of water temperature on detonation on B-23-AH.

(3) Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} will follow up the cast-iron crankcase with maximum rigidity. He should also arrange to take measurements of the deflections which occur in our crankcases.

(4) Tests to be carried out on the flexible flywheel.

(5) An aluminium crankcase with double rear bearing should also be progressed by Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}

(6) Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} will follow up Tsn's engine.

(7) Detonation on the Bentley.

Dodd should continue on this work and co-operate more closely with test bed results. We should make our ignition governor curves follow test bed requirements until these are shown to be wrong. At the present moment we seem to have large discrepancies. Using a fixed ignition and hand control, we ought to be able to establish the minimum amount of ignition advance required to avoid detonation, and this curve should approximate to the one obtained on the test bed. If not, we have got to find out why.

(8) Martindale and Hardy should complete their tests on brake jaggers and the elimination thereof.

(9) Hardy should get hold of the Marles steering intended for 5-B-IV.

(10) Martindale should let me know the progress of the light alloy drums.

(11) Martindale should keep in touch with design and let me know the progress of the brake layout for Wraith.
