Dear Sirs,
We beg to thank you for your favor dated the 1st instant, together with the enclosed two drawings Nos.FB.151 and FB.61.
We have duly noted the contents of your letter, which are quite clear to us, but you have omitted to state on the Bentley car you have in mind, what the front axle weight will approximate, although you have given us the weight of the car as 30 cwts.
With the usual distribution of weight on a car, the total being 30 cwts. we think possibly the next smaller size of Steering to that which you have been experimenting with on your 40/50 Phantom may possibly be of interest to you. This is our "J" Type Steering, as shewn on the enclosed general arrangement drawing GA.2450.
You will note that this gear is precisely the same in design as the larger "O" type Gear, being only a smaller edition of the same, and we would draw your attention to the 1" diameter Inner Tube and 1" diameter Rockershaft particularly, although we believe that with a 1" diameter tube your Controls will go through quite easily.
As regards the matter of gear ratio, we have to say that this "J" Gear is being made with 2 standard ratios, one having
